8 Wastes Of Lean

The 8 Wastes of Lean is a concept developed by Toyota to identify and eliminate non-value-added activities in the production process. It is a key part of the Lean manufacturing philosophy, which seeks to streamline production and eliminate waste. The 8 Wastes of Lean are defined as: Overproduction, Waiting, Transportation, Processing, Inventory, Motion, Defects, and Underutilized Talent.

Overproduction is the production of more than what is needed, which can lead to excess inventory and higher costs. Waiting is the time spent waiting for the next step in the process, which can lead to delays and inefficiencies. Transportation is the movement of materials between processes, which can lead to higher costs and inefficiencies. Processing is the time spent on activities that do not add value to the product, such as rework or inspection. Inventory is the amount of material that is held in stock, which can lead to higher costs and inefficiencies. Motion is the movement of people or materials between processes, which can lead to higher costs and inefficiencies. Defects are the number of defects that occur in the process, which can lead to higher costs and inefficiencies. Underutilized Talent is
