FTE (Full-Time Equivalent)
FTE (Full-Time Equivalent): An FTE is a unit of measure used to track the total workload an individual can handle in a given period, usually on an annual basis. It is common in facilities management to have different workloads for each staff member, and this measure helps compare them side by side. It also allows organisations to better identify areas where they could benefit from additional staff or other resources. The FTE is calculated by multiplying the number of hours worked each week by 52 weeks and then dividing by the maximum allowable hours per week. In other words, it tells us how many “full-time equivalents” an organisation would need in order to take on the same amount of work as one full-time employee.
