Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS)
A building energy management system (BEMS) is a computer-based control system installed in buildings that controls and monitors the building’s mechanical and electrical equipment. The objectives of a BEMS are to optimize the energy performance of a building and to improve the comfort of its occupants.
The main components of a BEMS are:
* Sensors: To measure conditions such as temperature, humidity, light levels, etc.
* Controllers: To turn equipment on or off, or to regulate the operation of equipment based on the readings from the sensors.
* Display devices: To show information about the building’s energy consumption and other conditions.
* Data storage: To store data collected by the sensors for trend analysis and reporting.
