Building Envelope – The exterior part of a building which acts as an important component in protecting the structure, inhabitants and contents from the elements. The building envelope consists of walls, floors, roofs, windows, doors and other openings to the outdoors. A well-designed and installed building envelope helps maintain a comfortable interior environment while reducing energy costs. It is also essential in protecting against moisture infiltration, noise pollution, fire hazards, UV radiation, and air infiltration.
