Current Transducer (Ct)

Current Transducer (Ct)

A transducer is a device that converts one form of energy to another. In the case of a current transducer, electrical current is converted to another form of energy, such as mechanical, optical or thermal energy.

Current transducers are used in a variety of applications, including power monitoring, motor control and data acquisition. Current transducers can be used to measure alternating current (AC) or direct current (DC). AC current transducers are more common because most industrial and commercial power is AC.

There are two main types of current transducers: hall effect and magneto-resistive. Hall effect transducers use the principle of the hall effect to measure current. Magneto-resistive transducers use the principle of magneto-resistance to measure current.
