Fire/Smoke Dampers

A fire/smoke damper is an essential component of a building’s fire safety system. It is a device installed in the ductwork of an HVAC system that is designed to stop the spread of smoke and flames in the event of a fire. Fire/smoke dampers are usually made of galvanized steel and are installed in walls, ceilings, and floors. They are designed to close automatically when a fire alarm is triggered, or when a temperature-sensitive element is activated. This helps to contain the fire and smoke to the area where it originated, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the building. Fire/smoke dampers are an important part of a comprehensive fire safety system, and they should be inspected and tested regularly to ensure they are functioning properly.
