A local area network (LAN) is a computer network covering a small geographic area, like a home, office, or small group of buildings. A LAN is usually built with wired Ethernet or wireless Wi-Fi technology. LANs are often used to share resources like files, printers, and internet connections. They can also be used to play multiplayer games or share large files quickly between computers. All the computers on a LAN can communicate with each other directly without going through the internet.
