Preventable Maintenance

What is the definition of preventable maintenance? Preventable maintenance is an important concept in equipment maintenance and management. It refers to regular, planned maintenance activities that are designed to identify and address potential problems in equipment and machinery before they occur. This type of maintenance is also known as predictive maintenance, since it helps to anticipate and prevent potential problems before they happen. Preventable maintenance is usually carried out on a regular basis as part of an overall preventative program. The main goal of preventative maintenance is to help maintain the condition of equipment and machinery and reduce the risk of future breakdowns or failures. Preventable maintenance activities typically include routine inspections, lubrication and cleaning, alignment and calibration, adjustments, replacement of parts, and other activities that help keep equipment and machinery in good working order. Preventable maintenance is an important part of a sound maintenance program, as it helps to reduce unplanned downtime, increase equipment and machinery reliability, and extend the life of equipment and machinery.
