BMS Controls Glossary

Bas Stands For

A BAS, or Building Automation System, is a computer-based system that automates the control of a building’s heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting, and other systems. It is used to control and monitor a building’s energy consumption, improve occupant comfort, and provide cost savings. A BAS typically consists of a network of sensors, controllers, and actuators that are connected to a central control system. The sensors measure environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, and air quality, while the controllers and actuators control the building’s systems. The central control system is responsible for managing the data from the sensors and controlling the actuators. By doing so, the BAS can ensure that the building’s systems are running efficiently and that the building is comfortable for its occupants.
