BMS Controls Glossary

Building Controls

Building controls are systems that regulate the operation of a building’s mechanical and electrical systems. These systems can include heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting, and security systems. Building controls are designed to optimize the efficiency of a building’s operations, as well as to ensure the safety and comfort of the occupants. Building controls are often used in conjunction with other building management systems, such as energy management systems, to ensure that the building is operating at peak efficiency. Building controls can be programmed to adjust the temperature, lighting, and other settings in a building in response to changes in the environment, such as changes in the weather or occupancy levels. They can also be used to monitor and adjust the building’s energy usage in order to reduce energy costs. Building controls are an essential part of modern building management, and are becoming increasingly important as buildings become more complex and energy-efficient.
