BMS Controls Glossary

Hvac Units

HVAC stands for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning, and is a type of system used to control the temperature, humidity, and air quality of a space. It is an essential part of any building, as it helps to maintain a comfortable environment for the occupants. HVAC units consist of several components, including an air handler, condenser, evaporator, compressor, and ductwork. The air handler is responsible for circulating air throughout the space, while the condenser and evaporator are used to cool and heat the air. The compressor helps to move the air through the system, and the ductwork is used to transport the air from the air handler to the various rooms in the building. HVAC units are typically powered by electricity, but can also be powered by natural gas or oil. They are typically installed by a professional HVAC technician, and require regular maintenance to ensure that they are working properly.
