BMS Controls Glossary

Bas System Meaning

A Building Automation System (BAS) is a computer-based system that is used to monitor and control the mechanical and electrical systems in a building. These systems are designed to increase the efficiency of the building’s operations, reduce energy costs, and provide a comfortable environment for the occupants. A BAS system typically consists of a central control system, sensors, and actuators that are connected to the various systems in the building. The central control system collects data from the sensors and sends commands to the actuators to control the various systems. The sensors measure various parameters such as temperature, humidity, and air quality, while the actuators control the various systems such as heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC). The BAS system also allows for remote monitoring and control of the building’s systems, providing a higher level of control and flexibility. By using a BAS system, building owners and operators can reduce energy costs, improve occupant comfort, and increase the efficiency of their building’s operations.
