Energy Conservation Measure (Ecm)
An Energy Conservation Measure (ECM) is a technology or set of practices used to reduce energy consumption and improve energy efficiency.
ECMs can be implemented in new or existing buildings, systems, and equipment. Typical ECMs include lighting retrofits, HVAC system improvements, building envelope improvements, and controls upgrades. When evaluating potential ECMs, it is important to consider the project’s goals, including energy savings, cost savings, and other benefits such as improved comfort or reduced maintenance.
It is also important to consider the interaction of different ECMs; for example, installing more efficient lighting may allow for downsizing of HVAC equipment. ECMs can be grouped into categories based on their function:
• Lighting
• HVAC
